Dwarven Fortress is a free download game known for its great depth and attention for detail. In the game you start a small outpost with 7 dwarfs and help it grow into a giant fortress while fending off invaders. The game has a lot of interface issues and it's really hard to learn but those who learn it, find the game to be really deep and entertaining.

This game was introduced to the Gaming Steve forums around 2006 and is still played by a lot of people. It is a creative game that allows you to create your own stories so it has been used a lot for story telling and such.
