Back in the mid 80’s Teddy Ruxpin was a new kind of teddy bear. Released by a company called Worlds of Wonder, he could talk and sing with the help of cassette tapes that were plugged into his back. He would tell stories that kids could follow along in a book or just listen to while laying in bed. He had a worm companion named Grubby that could be plugged into Teddy with a cord and the two could interact.

After several failed attempts at reviving this line, a company called Backpack Toys has brought him back again with a new digital cartridge. He sounds the same and the stories are the same with more to come. Pure nostalgia for those that had one when they were younger. They don’t have Grubby available yet but maybe that will come later.
With a little searching, I found a a Teddy Ruxpin hospital that will fix the old original World of Wonder versions of Teddy and Grubby and they have repaired toys for “adoption” either on Ebay or through the website.
Long live Teddy Ruxpin!
