Thank you to EA games for including me in the fansite download.
Yesterday was quite a busy day for Spore. An email was sent out to fansites with a link to a free download of the Spore Creature Creator. It was a wonderful gift from EA, it was also a bad time for me to be traveling. Late last night I got the chance to download the editor. I’m using a laptop with Vista so the first problem I had was an error code. In order to fix I had to install DirectX 9.c. Then I finally got the game running but it kept lagging and locking up so I had to restart. I managed to get my name registered. My creatures will be under the name of LadyM. I gave up last night trying to make a creature and was satisfied that I had made an account.
Early this morning I loaded the game again with nothing else running and the editor opened just fine. I played around a little and made something really weird but I don’t like it enough to post it. Since I’m traveling over the weekend, I don’t have a lot of time to play with it but I’ll try to post a creature soon.
My pre-ordered version will arrive next week and it can go on my desktop. Hopefully it will run better than the laptop. I don’t think the graphics card on this computer is very good. It also seems that there are pirated copies going out over the internet as the Sporepedia has sprung alive and tons of creatures are being uploaded.
Here are some current deals to look for when you buy a copy:
– Amazon: Purchase the Creature Creator and get $5 off Spore
– Target: Purchase the Creature Creator in store and get $5 off Spore
– GameStop: Get the full retail version of the Creature Creator for free when you trade in any two Wii, Xbox360 or PS3 titles (see store for details).
So, more Spore to come…
