Long time passing… long a ago there was a song by that name. Today it was something I was asking while attending the funeral of a family member. I ordered a nice spray of white flowers from FTD.com to be delivered on Saturday to the funeral home for the visitation service on Sunday and the funeral today.
The arrangement I ordered.
Last night, there were no flowers so I thought maybe they were saving them for the service today. Today I arrive and still no flowers. Interesting enough, I ordered two arrangements, one from my mother and one from me. The other arrangement was there for both of the events. So when I returned home, I called FTD.com (1-800-SEND-FTD) to find out why my flowers were missing.
I was told that my order was held up because they didn’t have my Frequent Flier number to apply my airline mileage to my account. What??? Three people had called me on Saturday to find out this information and I gave it to them. I also received an email with the request and I gave it to them too. Why didn’t anyone tell me that my order was in limbo because of this? You see, FTD and USAirways has an agreement to give miles for flower purchases. Apparently placing the correct frequent flier account number for the miles is more important than actually delivering the flowers for the funeral. My order was not placed because they were waiting for my number which I gave them four times. I told the woman that I couldn’t believe that happened. Screw the miles, the flowers needed to be there and they weren’t. The miles can be applied later. She apologized to me several times and I told her it wasn’t her fault but she needed to let her company know that they’re system is flawed. She refunded my payment and I placed a new order to be delivered to the house tomorrow but the memory of this will linger on for a long time. Lesson learned? Be sure you put your Freq Flier number in the correct slot or FTD will cease to function or call your local florist and have it done correctly.
