Today was an exciting day. There was a sick man that needed some special medicine so the Coast Guard came around 1:00 pm and dropped the medicine from a large plane, the ship’s crew picked it up from the water.
About 5:30 pm, we were close enough for the Coast Guard to send a helicopter to come get the man (age 62). We don’t know what was wrong with him but they couldn’t treat him on the ship. The crew got the deck evactuated and empty to allow the helicopter to get close enough. They lowered a basket and then hauled it back up when the man got in it. Hopefully he will be okay.
Tomorrow we arrive in Hilo for our first day in Hawaii.
