Today I went to EPCOT. Do you know what it stand for? I’ll tell you at the end of my report.
EPCOT is one of my favorite parks. We started the day getting fast passes to Soaring. To get a fast pass, you put your park ticket through a machine and it gives you another ticket with a time to come back and you can get right on the ride. The only way to do the popular rides at Disney. Soaring is a ride where you sit in a simulated hang glider, it lifts you up and over a movie screen and you feel like your “soaring” over mountains, oceans, valleys and all sorts of scenery. It’s really cool and very popular.

Next was a visit to the Sea with Nemo and Friends. It used to be called “The Living Seas” but was updated to add some “Finding Nemo” characters and a ride. You sit in a continuous moving car that looks like a clam shell and it takes you through characters from the movie who are looking for Nemo. It’s a mix of real scenery and video. There is also a new attraction where you talk to Crush the turtle. He is on a movie screen yet swims around and interacts with the people in the audience like he’s in a fish tank. His mouth even moves like he is talking. Disney Imagineering just keeps getting better.

I also rode Mission Space, the space shuttle simulator. There has been changes with this ride also. It used to be the same for everyone but people were getting sick from the spinning and a few people have died. They now give you a choice of the original ride (orange line) or a calmer version (green line). I took the orange line as spinning and such doesn’t bother me. It’s a great simulation that makes you feel like your taking off on a launch pad and sling shotting around the moon and on to Mars.
After that it was on to Test Track, a high speed ride where you get the feel of testing a new car.

Okay, so what does EPCOT mean? Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. The second theme park built in the Walt Disney World complex. Tomorrow is Animal Kingdom and MGM.
